BILL KOBERTZ

I volunteered to coach soccer in 2010 to help the head coach of my oldest daughter’s 1st grade town soccer team with fixing braids and ponytails and getting ice packs and band aids for soccer-related boo-boos. Since then, I have earned several National and Grassroots Soccer Licenses and have been a head coach of 1st grade in-town to High School teams in the BAYS travel league every year since 2013. As a youth soccer instructor, my goal is to make it fun for the kids, adapting the training sessions and gameplans to both the physical and mental skills of the team. As someone with bilateral paralysis below the knee, I look forward to the CP Soccer training sessions to pick up adaptive tips from the players that I can use to be a better coach and athlete.

Mara Yale

Mara played soccer through high school and her two kids have played since they were young. Mara is a somatic therapist, specializing in helping kids and adults optimize their recovery after neurological or neuromuscular injuries. She's trained in Feldenkrais and Somatic Experiencing. Previously, she's been a geophysicist and software engineer. She's a solo mom to two children, both of whom play soccer and ice hockey. Mara played Division I ice hockey and now coaches girls' hockey in her local community. Mara has seen how sports are a great way to help kids continue to gain skills after stroke or other neurological injuries, and is delighted to help found the New England CP Soccer Team.

JENN SMAGULA

Jenn played soccer through high school and is currently on the board of her town's youth soccer association. She has three children playing soccer at various levels including her daughter who is a pediatric stroke survivor and has left side hemiplegia as a result of the stroke. Jenn loves the game of soccer and believes playing sports has so many benefits for all children. She is passionate about providing children of all ability levels the opportunity to participate in sports. In her spare time, Jenn enjoys spending time with her family, running, and working as a health care actuary. Jenn was very excited to join the CP Soccer New England team in August 2022 as both a coach and administrator, and looks forward to working with all the players and parents.
