alex mangione-smith, Founder

Alex Mangione-Smith is the founder and director of CP Soccer Arizona. Alex grew up in Valatie, New York and attended college at Bryant University in Rhode Island where he majored in International Business. His hobbies are playing soccer, running, and traveling.

He has played travel soccer since he was 6 years old, playing for a few clubs in Upstate New York and has traveled all over the Northeast to play. Alex played soccer for his high school where he was a starter junior and senior year and a co-captain of the team senior year.

Alex moved to Phoenix in September 2020 and started a job at a bank, and started CP Soccer Arizona that season. “I am excited to start a team in Arizona and help grow the game of CP Soccer in the US.”

JOHN SULLIVAN, coach

John Sullivan is the Co-Head Coach of CP Soccer Arizona alongside Alex Mangione-Smith.

John suffered a TBI as a baby, and is affected on his left side. He played club soccer in Arizona for Flagstaff Soccer Club from 2008 to 2014. In 2017, John was given the opportunity to try-out for the U.S Para-7-a-side National Team under head coach Stuart Sharp. Since then, John has traveled to many new places like Ecuador and Spain to play for the national team against other countries and represent the USA in various competitions.

He currently lives in Tucson and is a graduate student at the University of Arizona. “I’m thrilled to be able to bring CP Soccer to Arizona. I’ve lived here my whole life and can’t wait to get to know the young athletes who will represent our state as CP Soccer players.”
